Introduction
As a class we had to create a scavenger hunt experience inside the Columbia Museum of Arts. I had to explore, research, and create physical pathways for a virtual experience that allowed users to discover objects throughout the collection using augmented reality. For my part of the project I brought a coat by Patricia A. Montgomery to life. This project was a feature at the CMA November 8th Arts Draughts event and will still be up through January 2025.
Process
In our class, we used Miro to map out the flow of ideas, organize information, and share designs in real time. The digital whiteboard allowed us to visually connect concepts, brainstorm collaboratively, and give instant feedback on each other's work. This streamlined the design process and made it much easier to track progress, ensuring that everyone stayed aligned and contributed effectively. The ability to work together remotely, in a shared space, made communication clearer and more efficient.
Animation Process
For my animation process, I started by digitally cutting out the triangles and people from the jacket, isolating each element to give it the freedom to move independently. I then carefully moved them frame by frame, ensuring smooth transitions and precise motion. The process required attention to detail, as I adjusted the positioning and timing of each element to create a seamless flow. Once all the frames were finalized, I brought everything together in Adobe Aero, where I combined the pieces into an interactive, polished animation. This allowed me to add depth and dimension, creating a dynamic visual experience.

The Experience
The experience was simple and accessible for everyone. By scanning the QR code and holding their phone up to the coat, viewers could watch the animation come to life, with the elements moving seamlessly as if part of the jacket. It was an easy way for anyone to engage with the artwork and experience the blend of physical and digital in an interactive, fun way.
