This week, I learned about Susan Kare, a designer who created the first icons and brought them to computers. She brought visuals to computers when everything was just text. Kare then started working at Apple and talked about how she loved working in sixteen-by-sixteen and thirty-two-by-thirty-two pixel icon grids when creating icons. This is something I really want to try when creating my icons for the ad campaign we are working on right now in class. For my ad campaign I chose to focus on the pinball law in South Carolina that says anyone under the age of 18 isn’t allowed to play pinball. This is because pinball did not have flippers so it made it a game of chance, anyone that won would be granted a prize. This became labeled as gambling which is the cause of age restriction. For my campaign I want my archetype to be the innocent, and the rule follower. I want to encourage kids through bright colors and fun characters to stay away from pinball. I feel like through my colors and imagery it will make my overall campaign playful.
