On Monday the final project was introduced where we will finalize and devote time to working on our websites. I am really looking forward to this assignment because I have been so busy, I haven’t been able to touch up my website and make it something I am proud to show an employer. Currently my website has a very playful vibe, however I want to create a more professional environment to showcase my work. On Wednesday we were able to meet with a guest speaker, Amber Cox, who is a UI/UX designer at Disney. This was an incredible opportunity to be able to speak with her and learn about her experience in the design field. She made me feel more confident when asking questions because she said this shows that you are engaged and willing to ask, instead of make assumptions and get something wrong. As well, Amber explained the difference between burnout and exhaustion. She says exhaustion is when you are tired and need to rest or a break from what you are working on, and when you get back to it you are able to finish it up. Meanwhile, burnout is when you take that break or rest, and when you come back to it you still can’t. I feel like I haven’t personally experienced burnout, but I have experienced exhaustion and artists block. I enjoyed this virtual field trip and all of Amber’s insights.
