This week I have finalized my billboards and completed my wireframes. I had an in class critique with my peers and professor. I received a lot of great ideas and suggestions to elevate my design. The main two suggestions I received were to brighten the colors and change the background. I feel that the paper texture no longer worked due to me changing the typeface, however I’m leaning towards either the sort of skating rink carpet or a pinball machine with all of the lights going off. My decision to get rid of my hand lettering paid off this week, everyone agreed that it looked more professional and complete. I also received positive feedback on my wireframes, and my professor also suggested that I switch the layout up for the website to more of an editorial style so it doesn't feel like mobile.
The Donna Lichaw: The Donna Lichaw The Leader’s Journey podcast this week was super informative and inspirational. This podcast made me look at the world of design and leadership differently, and also reinforced some things for me as well. The beginning of the podcast drew me in immediately with the topic storytelling and how a story is so important. This got my intention right away because when I was younger I was always driven by a story and loved Harry Potter, Marvel/DC comics, and John Green stories. My art was fueled with these characters I related to. I eventually started to get into movies and TV shows the same way. She also mentioned something that I think will be beneficial for me is to constantly ask why? Donna Lichaw says this is how you dig deeper when working and just in life. I feel that this would really help me when designing, and deciding what choices to make to keep everything on brand and have that human connection. I also enjoyed her talk about leadership and how leaders have to feel like a hero to make others feel like a hero. She compares leaders in the workplace to superheroes which I thought was cool and accurate. Lastly towards the end of the podcast she talks about the importance of data and measurements which Dean from True Matter also talked about. It just validates every choice and can really help push your message and its effectiveness.
