This week, we had a guest speaker Helen Armstrong. Helen is an expert in A.I. and is extremely intelligent when It comes to A.I. and the future of it. I really appreciate Helen coming and speaking to us and she has really opened my mind to the thought of A.I. and how it can shape the future of my career. I see designers at the forefront of A.I. when it comes to developing the look and branding. Designers have control over A.I. interfaces and designing an A.I. app. As well as designers have the ability to visualize an A.I. and how it will appear, and represent itself to humans. As well, designers control how an A.I. interface will work and how humans can interact with A.I. One of the moments that stood out to me was the chart about human task that can be done without A.I vs. with A.I. However, the real area of interest was work that can be done with only A.I. This week I have also finished working on my moodboard for my packaging. For my packaging I'm planning on packaging myself and memories I have with my grandmother so she can always remember me. I have continued creating and thinking about my moodboard for this part of the project. It focusing on memories I have with my grandmother and things I would package of our memories and myself to help her remember who I am, if the day came where she no longer did. It includes imagery of movies we watched that we still talk about and references we make and laugh about to this day. It also includes toys she bought me and the most important to me are the mermaids she would buy me and would never make me feel bad about liking things that were "made for girls."
We read "Whats Wrong with Plagiarism" by Gunnar Swanson, one of the major things that stood out to me in this reading is when Swanson polled people about plagiarism but referred to it as property and theft. This really makes people more aware of the seriousness of plagiarism because of the wording he used. When you copy someone else's work or words you are stealing their property and claiming it as your own and thats wrong so I really enjoyed his wording there. I really enjoyed this reading and loved to learn more about not only Plagiarism but how it fits in with design as well. I feel its super important to learn about because we always here about it as students in the form of writing and making sure you quote people and give credit to statements that arent yours or in your own words but we rarely hear about it when it comes to design.
